Wrestlers Will Enter Four-Man Contingent In Iowa Tournament

Four members of the wrestling team, led by Bob Foster and Captain John Noble, will compete in the National Collegiate Championships at Iowa City March 26-28.

Foster, who will wrestle at 177, placed second in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Championships last week, With a record of nine wins and one loss for the season, his only dual meet defeat occurred on an illegal hold.

In the championships, Noble will wrestle at 147, with ten wins and one loss on his record. Peter Stanley will wrestle at 167.

Rounding out the four-man squad, heavyweight Bob Wynne holds a 1-0 record, having been out of competition for three years. The only Crimson wrestler besides Foster to survive the first round in the Easterns, he pinned Art Giorgini of Brown in 2:12.

After defeating Pittsburgh's Tony Vuocolo In 2:56 in the preliminary round of the Easterns, Foster won the next round with a 4-2 decision over Gene Appel of Columbia. Then, in the semi-finals, he turned back Doug Volugenau of Navy 8 to 5. Foster lost in the finals, however, dropping a 9-4 decision to Lehigh's Ed Hammer.
