The Harvard Liberal Union played a major role last weekend in a decision by the Students for Democratic Action to affiliate formally with the Americans for Democratic Action.

H.L.U. member Carl M. Levin 3L proposed the affiliation and also drafted some constitutional amendments. The six H.L.U. delegates to the Washington, D.C., convention were the major supporters of the combination, which would make members of former S.D.A. clubs full-fledged members of A.D.A.

Frederic Freilicher '60, H.L.U. treasurer, was elected national chairman of the newly-named "Campus Division of A.D.A.," an association of liberal political clubs centered in eastern colleges. Freilicher will belong to both the national board and the top-level executive board of the A.D.A., traditional positions for S.D.A. presidents.

Because of its size, the H.L.U. will be the only individual campus club to have a representative on the A.D.A. national board, if the A.D.A. approves the change as expected. Roger C. Algase '59 has been chosen for this position.
