Telescopes mounted in satellites may be launched from this country in less than three years, according to Donald H. Menzel, director of the Harvard College Observatory.

A proposal containing plans for such an instrument was presented to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration last October, and the researchers are awaiting a contract to proceed with actual construction.
