The varsity fencing team will be trying for its sixth victory against three defeats tonight when it faces M.I.T. in Walker Memorial Gymnasium. The Crimson will start its first-string lineup against the strong and improving Engineer squad.
Bill Trebilcock, Dave Johnson, and Phil Charat in foil will have the task of facing M.I.T.'s Barry Schaible, who is capable of giving them their roughest battle of the season.
In sabre and epee, the varsity holds a slim but definite edge. A good showing in foil and top effort in all departments will be needed to beat the Engineers.
Last night the Yardlings defeated the M.I.T. freshmen in a close match, 15 to 12. A 7-2 margin in sabre and a 5-4 win in epee erased a 3-6 foil deficit for the Crimson freshmen.
