Seeking to rebound from its disappointing loss to Penn Saturday, the varsity wrestling team will face a strong Springfield squad tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the I.A.B.
Bob Foster, unbeaten in his five starts this year, will return to action at 177 Ibs. Tonight, after missing the Penn match because of a knee injury. He will face the Gymnasts' De Muccio, whom Crimson coach Robert A. Pickett describes as one of Springfield's strongest men.
Other Springfield standouts, according to Pickett, are Berger at 157 and Moses at 130. But the Gymnasts, he says, always field tough, well-balanced teams, and no Crimson wrestler can expect an easy contest tonight. Springfield, Pickett adds, is likely to prove "as tough for us as anyone we have faced."
At 157, Berger will face varsity captain Joe Noble, looking to get back into winning form after absorbing his first loss of the year against Penn. Moses will meet Carl Kludt, also a loser in the Penn match and currently sporting a 1-1 season record.
Lineup Changes
Pickett has shaken up his lineup somewhat at the other weights. King Holmes moves up from 147 to 167 to replace the injured Rick Sullivan, while Nick Estabrook returns to action in the lower weight class. Otherwise the lineup remains the same, with Dave Skeels at 123, John Watkins at 137 and Ted Robbins in the heavyweight division.
The absence of Foster, Pickett says, was a key factor in the loss to Penn, although the team as a whole "didn't wrestle up to its ability." He hopes for an improved showing tonight and in Saturday's important Ivy League match against Princeton. The freshman team, defeated only by Penn, will also face Springfield here tonight.
