Coach, Professor Daly Dies at 78

Col. Charles D. Daly '01, three-time All-American quarterback and former Harvard assistant football coach, died Friday in Pacific Grove, Cal., at the age of 78.

As an undergraduate at the College, Daly was class marshal and football captain. He was assistant gridiron coach here from 1906 to 1913. After serving two tenures as head coach at West Point, which he also attended, Daly was appointed professor of Military Science and Tactics at Harvard. In 1951 he was elected to the Football Hall of Fame, at New Brunswick N.J.
