Fencers to Meet Top-rated N.Y.U.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

One of the best teams in the nation, New York University, will face the varsity fencers this afternoon at 2 p.m. in the I.A.B. The undefeated fencers are fresh from two easy victories over weak teams in the last two days.

Varsity coach Edo MARISON RATES N.Y.N., which beat the Crimson last year 18 to 9, and won 21 to 6 the year before, as a perennially top team. The visitors are especially strong in foil, in which Howard Glaser and co-captain Marty Davis, a left-hander, are possibilities for the international championship.

Varsity number one sabreman Manny Cabral will have a tough match today against Mike DeSano, N.Y.U.'s Eastern Collegiate Champion. Also favored in the sabre matches is co-captain Christian Pascal of N.Y.U. In the epee matches the varsity is hardly strong enough to be rated a favorite over the trio from N.Y.U.

In addition to his individual stars, coach Hugo Castello has surprising depth on his New York University squad. Leading the varsity team will be captain Bill Trebilcock.

The match will mark the debut in New England of the electric foil.
