The squash team did it again yesterday, sweeping nine official and two practice matches from an M.I.T. squad that could win only one game all night.
In spite of a rather poor showing, inexperience was not the Engineers' problem. Fourth-ranked Tony Lake, in fact, played a man he has met five times before in official competition. Lake won 15 to 3, 15 to 4, and 15 to 4.
The prize for the quickest match of the evening, however, went to Peter Smith, who managed to complete his first game while losing only a single. On the whole, the entire team played quickly; and several spectators were still arriving as the last Crimson player left the courts.
The varsity used the customary ladder, except that Romer Holleran was unable to play. The alternates were Bob Schwartzman and Bill Chute, while Ed Vaughan moved into the top nine.
The M.I.T. match was the Crimson's last match until after vacation, when it will face Cornell on Jan. 9. Although the Big Red should present easy opposition, three days later the Crimson will meet its first real test of the new year against a powerful Williams team.
