A cheering crowd of 500 students and alumni gathered by the steps of the Indoor Athletic Building last night heard Coach John Yovicsin exclaim that "Harvard football is on its way back."

Declaring that the Princeton game today will be decided by "inspirational play," Yovicsin promised the enthusiastic crowd that the Crimson would achieve "the victory you deserve because you've been such loyal rooters."

The rally began at 6:15 in front of Widener Library with a spirited Band concert and several cheers for the team. Led by the Band and several University police who cleared the way, the rooters then marched through the Yard, down Plympton St. and along Mill St., to the tunes of "Veritas" and "Yo-Ho, the Good Ship Harvard."

Enlivened by the music, the crowd loudly applauded Captain Hank Keohane when he declared that this football team was made up of students and not "basket-weaving or fly-casting majors."

John Harvard's ghost appeared briefly on the scene to predict that the Crimson would trounce the Tigers 60-14 in revenge for last year's 16-14 defeat. He also guaranteed that each cheerleader would do 35 push-ups to entertain the crowd at today's contest.
