Democratic Hopefuls Agree to Speak Here

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

At least five hopefuls for the 1960 Democratic Presidential nomination will speak at the University in the next four months for the Leadership Forum of the HYDC and Law-Graduate Democratic Club.

Those to have accepted "definite committments" are Governors Robert B. Meyner and G. Mennen Williams, and Senators Stuart Symington and Hubert H. Humphrey, according to Forum cochairman David W. Adamany '58.

Governor Pat Brown "indicated that he would like to speak for the Forum," and negotiations are being completed to determine the time and place, Adamany said.

Former Governor Adlai Stevenson and Senator Lyndon B. Johnson declined to speak, while the appearance of Senator John F. Kennedy '40 will hinge upon his plans for attending the meeting of the Board of Overseers January 11.

The only definite date so far is that of Meyner's appearance, which will be November 18. Brown will probably come during the fall, Williams and Symington prefer to speak in February, and Humphrey will appear in the spring.
