Dunster House, first in tackle football, tied for the lead in soccer, and third in touch football, appears a sure bet to pile up the most points in the fall intramural program. The Funsters are undefeated in tackle football and soccer, and will move into a tie for second in touch football with the loser of the playoff between Winthrop and Adams.
Both sporting 6-0 records, Winthrop and Adams will meet today at 2:30 p.m. on the House field to determine the touch championship.
Dunster and Eliot, tied with five wins and three draws apiece in the soccer league, will play off the deadlock next Tuesday or Wednesday. Eliot trails Dunster by one point in tackle football, and is fourth in touch.
If the injury-riddled Funsters can overcome a seventh-place Dudley team next Tuesday, their tackle football team will be undefeated for the third consecutive year. Halfback Stan Greenspan and quarterback Dewey Manzer will lead the Dunster attack, while lineman Mike McDonald will bolster the defense.
The Dunster-Eliot game, apparently the key contest of the tackle season, took place on Oct. 13. Dunster came from behind to win in the last minute of play, 14 to 12.
Roger Ferguson, Sid Weber, Kenny Kearn, and Carlos Rodriguez will lead the Funster soccer team in the play-off against Eliot next week. Eliot earned its place in the title match by defeating Kirkland, 3 to 0, Tuesday afternoon. The loss dropped the Deacons to third place. Tom Gleason, Steve Truett, Charam Pahlari, and Kermit Roosevelt led the Elephant booters.
The tie-breaker will decide only which team is to go to Yale, since the two Houses will split first and second place points in Straus Trophy competition.
