Council May Curtail Exam Book Demand

A Student Council plan to relieve pressure on study space and highly demanded books in Lamont, widener, and House Libraries may gain approval in time for Reading and Exam Periods.

According to Eugene H. Zagat, Jr. '61, chairman of the Council's Library Committee, the groups has already received favorable response from the Masters on a plan to keep House libraries open until midnight Sundays, and until 1 a.m. weekdays during the final four weeks of each term. It will submit the proposal next week to Paul H. Buck, Director of the University Library.

First, it suggests that a closed time limit be imposed on certain books (they could be borrowed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. etc.); secondly, a running time limit should apply to all high-priority books; and thirdly, reserved books could be taken out of the library for the limited periods.
