Hamm Leads Varsity To Squash Win, 9-0

Led by Captain Charlie Hamm, the squash team defeated a tough and determined Williams squad, 9 to 0, yesterday on the Hemenway courts. The Ephmen were able to win only five games from the Crimson, whose record now stands at 5-0.

Playing at the number one position, Hamm defeated his old nemesis, Gary Tobin, who had whipped him earlier this year in a holiday tournament. Tim Gallwey withstood the smashes of Ephman Ed Fleischman to win in the second slot. Gerry Emmet, Pete Lund, Fred Vinton, Tony Lake, Wally Stimpson, Vic Poletti, and Kent Allen also registered victories.

"I thought the team played very well," coach Jack Barnaby commented after the victory. "The team's top men--with the exception of Gallwey--didn't play very well against Army or during the holiday tourney, but now they're looking solid again." Barnaby emphasized that Williams was no easy match for the Crimson, observing that "the match was closer than it seems."
