Nancy L. Proger '59 assumed the presidency of the Radcliffe Student Government Association over the summer. At its opening meeting on Sept. 30, the student Council will elect a new vice-president.

Miss Proger replaced Gail S. Warshofsky '59, who was married this month and took a year's leave-of-absence to accompany her husband on a Sheldon Traveling Fellowship.

The Radcliffe Council will also appoint a Song Contest Chairman and Publicity Chairman, and girls interested in these positions are asked to notify a member of the student Council executive board by Sept. 28.

Miss Proger announced that Student Council meetings will be held every Tuesday at 4:45 p.m. in Comstock Hall basement. Meetings are open to all Radcliffe students.

One of the Council's main concerns this year will be the success of the Drum-beats-and-Song production, a musical adaptation of Gogol's The Government Inspector, Miss Proger announced.

Miss Proger noted that the Radcliffe honor system no longer entails "double-reporting." This means that a girl is responsible for her own adherence to dormitory rules, but does not have to report infractions by her fellow-students.

"It was felt that the other was not really an honor system if everyone was spying on everyone else. Also, it never worked," Miss Proger said. "Girls were always more loyal to their friends than to the honor system."
