William L. Dowling, Jr. '59 of Dunster House and West Roxbury died yesterday morning in Stillman Infirmary. He had been hospitalized with leukemia for nearly a month.
Dunster House friends of Dowling had donated blood in an attempt to arrest the disease which struck him during the last Spring Weekend. In all, 20 members of the House responded to a plea by the University Health Service for blood for transfusions.
Dowling was head of the Harvard Catholic Club and had been active in Church affairs here. Arrangements for the funeral and the wake have not yet been completed.
