Into everyone's life a little rain must fall, but enough is enough. The varsity lacrosse team has had enough. Yesterday's scheduled contest with Tufts was postponed after four ducks and six sea-gulls were sighted swimming on the field.
Hopefully, the mallards will be gone and the field will be in reasonable condition when the Dartmouth Indians meet the Crimson tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. In fact, in an effort to frighten the birds away, the varsity will practice this afternoon "whether it rains or snows," according to coach Bruce Munro.
Inactivity will probably not hurt the varsity's chances, since it will enable most of the injured players to rest and return to the lineup. But even if everyone plays up to top form, the Crimson still will remain the underdog. Though it lost to Cornell, Dartmouth is considered a team of undefeated Princeton's calibre.
The midfield probably will be the strongest it can be, in spite of the loss of Karl Bjork and Jim Tulenko for the entire season.
If defenseman Lanny Keyes recovers from his pulled hamstring muscle, he will replace Bob Shaunessy. On the attack, Dub Mallonee will be able to play, along with Jerry Pyle and Nick Lamont.
