Studies of India, Russia Included In Four New Government Courses

Four new courses, two for undergraduates and two for graduate students, will be instituted by the Government Department next year, according to Samuel H. Beer, professor of Government.

Undergraduates will be offered a half-year course, Government 118, in the "Government and Politics of Southeast Asia." The course, to be given in the Fall by Rupert Emerson '22, professor of Government, and Anthony N. Wahl, instructor in Government, deals with the governmental institutions and problems of Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Burma, Indo-china, and Malaya.

Lloyd I. Rudolph '48, instructor in Government, will supervise a half-year Spring course, Government 119, in the "Government and Politics of Contemporary India."

A full-year course in "Defense Policy and Administration," Government 259, will be given by Henry A. Kissinger '50, lecturer on Government, and members of the Defense Studies Staff. The course, given jointly by the Law School and the Graduate School of Public Administration, will discuss problems of military policy and their relation to foreign policy.

"Ideological Factors in International Politics," a half-year course to be taught in the Fall, will be given by Adam B. Ulam, associate professor of Government. The course, Government 288, will deal with Soviet external policies and their relationship to Marxian ideology.
