Having lost its opening match, 4 1/2 to 2 1/2, to Boston College, the varsity golf team will go after its first win of the young season this afternoon at 2 p.m. at Oakley Country Club in Watertown. Opposing the squad will be untried M.I.T. and Williams.
The varsity's top seven golfers will be Al Steinert, Perry Driggs, Frank Dodge, Warren Iliff, Dave Beadie, North Ward, and John Tuschman, unless coach Cooney Weiland changes his starting lineup of last Wednesday.
