News Alters Format, Emphasizes Features

The Radcliffe News announced yesterday that it will continue publication with major changes in content and format, and with professional advisers.

The paper plans to emphasize "feature articles which concern not only the College but the entire University." Attention will be focused "on the major trends and problems in the academic and social life" of Radcliffe and Harvard, the News said.

"The format of the News will undergo radical change," the lead article stated. The newspaper will change to tabloid size with corresponding revisions in page makeup.

Reorganization will include expansion of the present staff and formation of "auxiliary contributors," who will be Radcliffe students and alumnae. The News also plans to obtain advisory assistance from professional writers in the Cambridge area.

"Recent difficulties of the News have aroused an interest in the paper within and without the College," the editors explained. Although an all-College referendum for Student Government Association subsidy was defeated two weeks ago, the News plans to finance publication through advertising and subscription revenue.
