The Student Council last night voted 13 to 2 to censure the group which staged the recent "coup" in taking over the Committee to Study Disarmament.
Denis D. Barber '60, chairman of the committee appointed last week to investigate the charges of "illegality" in the matter, said the move was "done in bad taste" and effected "a radical departure from the original intent" of the CSD.
In approving the committee's recommendation for censure, the Council also approved a general motion that it had the power to take action in all cases where members of an undergraduate organization claimed the purpose of their group was being "subverted by external influence."
NSA Report Deferred
Another Council committee, the one appointed last week to study the charges of alleged ballot-box stuffing in the recent NSA referendum, asked the Council to extend the date of its report until next week's meeting. Paul E. Freehling '59, one of the members of the three-man committee, explained that the postponement would aid the committee in arriving at a unanimous decision. He said the members of the committee are divided at present on their opinions as to the validity of the charges and additional time was needed to conduct a more thorough investigation.
