Bundy, Griswold Announce Endorsement Of Two GOP Candidates for State Office

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Two Harvard deans endorsed Republican candidates for state office in political advertisements which ran in Boston newspapers yesterday.

Dean Bundy came out for gubinatorial nominee Charles Gibbons, while Erwin N. Griswold, Dean of the Law School, was one of 137 lawyers to sign a statement supporting Christian A. Herter Jr. for Attorney General.

Listed as a "famous professor of Government" and "Cambridge resident," Bundy called Governor Furcolo "not a wicked man. He is something more dangerous than that. He is a bad Governor." The advertisement does not mention Bundy's position in the University.

Griswold, along with former Justice of the Supreme Court Louis S. Cox, is featured in advertisements as a supporter for Herter. The statement of the Committee of Lawyers for Herter claims that "his election as Attorney General is essential to the proper adminstration of the legal affairs of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts."

A quick run-down of political advertisements found no other Faculty members or Administration officials as public supporters of political candidates.
