The varsity football team placed second in the Ivy League in both team defense and team punting, according to statistics released this week. Thursday's Cornell-Pennsylvania game will decide the five individual scoring honors still in doubt.

With 2200 yards in total offense, Brown beat out Dartmouth for the team title. Penn is presently ranked third and Cornell fourth. Dartmouth held their opposition to 212.6 yards per game, three yards less than the Crimson. Cornell averaged 39.8 yards in team punting, 3.3 more than the varsity.

Chet Boulris and Charlie Ravenel, main-stays of the Crimson backfield, combined to place in four of the six offense departments. Ravenel was fifth in forward passing, while Boulris took third in rushing and fifth in both punting and scoring.

Leading the league in total offense is Brown quarterback Frank Finney, 122 yards ahead of Cornell's ace, Tom Sky-peck. Finney completed his final season with 852 yards on 162 plays. The two quarterbacks are also in a dog-fight for passing honors, with Finney 122 yards ahead.

Dartmouth's John Crouthamel cinched rushing honors when he gained 117 yards against Princeton last week to pull 67 yards ahead of Brown's Paul Choquette.

Skypeck is engaged in another battle, this one for punting honors with Penn's Hal Musick. The Cornell star is leading by a slim margin going into Thursday's contest.

The final department to be decided Thursday is pass receiving. Cornell ends now rank third, fourth, and fifth behind Brown's Bill Traub.
