The steady, well-coordinated attack of the Yale J.V. eleven proved far superior to the Crimson's sporadic attempts to catch up as the Elis marched to a 28-14 victory at Soldiers Field yesterday.
Yale scored in every quarter, taking a quick 8-0 lead after a Crimson fumble. Willy Welch took the ball five yards through the line for Yale's first score and Chris Vachris continued the rout with an 11-yard spurt around the Crimson's left end in the second quarter.
The score rose to 22 to 0 before the Crimson quarterback could get his squad rolling during the third period. Attempting a spectacular bootleg pass play to Dick Aadalen, Kenny Deitch threw accurately but the ball slipped through Aadalen's cold hands. The latter quickly vindicated himself by intercepting a pass on the Yale 15 and easily running to the end zone.
Another interception deep in Eli territory by Steve Cohen early in the fourth period set up the Crimson's second touchdown. Deitch snuck over from the one. Yale managed another late tally to end the scoring.
Yale dominated play throughout the game as the Crimson seemed to have difficulty coordinating its blocking and running.
