Five Quit Cast of HDC Show

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Five leading actors in the Harvard Dramatic Club's coming production of The Good Woman of Setzuan have left the cast in the last 48 hours. However, replacements have been procured, and the play will open as scheduled a week from tomorrow.

According to James E. Stinson, Jr. '59, president of the HDC, the five left "because they were not content to act; they wanted to direct, too." He added that, with the replacements, "the production is probably in better shape than before."

Those leaving the play were Stephen H. Randall '60, Mark J. Mirsky '61, James M. Swan '59, Nathan C. Douthit '60, and Roger A. Moldovan '59.

In a statement last night, the five charged that "the HDC has a responsibility not merely to stage a play, but to present a production that will fulfill minimum artistic standards. We did not feel that this production of The Good Woman of Setzuan would meet the HDC's obligation to its audience."
