Repeated violations of University parking regulations may result in suspension of vehicle registration and action by the Administrative Board, it was learned yesterday.
Under a revised procedure, a list of students who have accumulated five or more tickets will be sent to the Senior Tutors and the Dean of Freshmen. All such violators will be placed on official warning that additional parking offenses may mean the loss of the right to operate a car in Cambridge.
The Senior Tutors and the Dean of Freshmen have the right to cancel the registration of any six-time offender, and may also recommend disciplinary action by the Administrative Board. According to one Senior Tutor, repeated parking violations could conceivably be held by the Administrative Board as grounds for suspension.
The tutor emphasized, however, that any action would be taken solely on the merits of the individual case. Even under present parking regulations, parking violations can result in disciplinary action, but the new procedure establishes specific limits.
Several registrations were cancelled last year as the result of parking violations. In these cases, as in any under the new procedures, the student is required to submit a written statement declaring that he does not maintain a car in Cambridge.
