The varsity sailing team and MIT tied for second place in the Nevins Trophy Regatta at King's Point, N.Y. last weekend. Princeton, with a total of 124 points, won by three points.
Hanson Robbins and Carlos Rodriguez, who skippered the two Crimson boats, placed second and third in their respective divisions.
Harvard, MIT, and Princeton all held the lead at various times until the last race. Rodriguez called the regatta, which was marked by keen competition between these three schools, "the most thrilling in my last two or three years."
The scores were: Princeton 124, Harvard, 121, MIT 121, Pennsylvania 73, Ohio State 70, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy 65, Cooper Union 57, and Haverford 48.
In the six-college Oberg Trophy Regatta at MIT yesterday, another group from the sailing team placed third, trailing MIT and Boston University.
Bill Saltonstall, Sam Thoron, and Jon Larsen skippered the Crimson entries in the three divisions.
