Ferris Made Director Of New Safety Group

Dr. Benjamin G. Ferris, Jr. '40, has been named to head a University-wide program for maintaining present standards in health and safety and for meeting new problems as they arise.

He will be director of the new Division of Environmental Health and Safety for the University Health Services, and will become associate professor of Environmental Health and Safety.

The division will investigate problems related to food, water, the disposal of nonradioactive wastes, lighting, ventilation and heating, exposures to chemical and high voltage electricity, and the prevention of injuries through safety education programs.
