WHRB-FM Applies For New Frequency

Radio station WHRB-FM will move to a new frequency and boost its total wattage by 80 per cent, president Loren L. Wyss '58 announced yesterday. WHRB has filed an application with the Federal Communications Commission to approve the changeover.

The station will operate on the unannounced new frequency by late March or early April. After a compulsory 30-day waiting period, the decision will be approved by the FCC and, after a second 30-day waiting period, the station will be able to alter its facilities. The change-over will take only a short period, and possibly could be completed while the station was normally off the air.

WHRB will increase the height of its broadcasting tower on top of Dudley Hall to "make the signal stronger within the listening radius of the station."

Reliable sources have said that a Boston commercial FM station has complained that WHRB-FM is sliding over into its frequency. However, Wyss denied the report, and said that no complaints have been received.
