Professor Harold C. Schmidt, director of the Summer School Chorus, has announced that tonight will be the last opportunity for new members to join the Chorus.
The Summer School Chorus of 100 members will give its annual concert on August 13 in Sanders Theatre; he continued; and included in the program this year will be Randall Thompson's "Ode to the Virginian Voyage."
Professor Thompson, chairman of the University Music Department, composed this work for the 1957 Jamestown Festival commemorating the 350th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown, Virginia.
Professor Schmidt also said that he plans to form a full orchestra for this work and that anyone interested in playing in this should sign up in the Music Building.
