The Class of '57 will assemble in the Yard at 10 a.m. this morning and march solemnly to their Class Day exercises in the Sever Quadrangle to say farewell, in prose and verse, to Harvard College.
John A. Simourian, first Class Marshal, will lead the class to the Quadrangle, assisted by Second Marshal Charlton MacVeagh, Jr., and Third Marshal Edward M. Abramson. The exercises will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be open to the public. Music for the occasion will be provided by the Harvard Band.
A prayer by Rev. George A. Buttrick, Preacher to the University, will open the program. Robert W. Scrivner will deliver the Class Oration, and John Ratte will follow with the Class Poem. The Ivy Oration, traditionally a humorous piece, will be given by Stephen A. Aaron.
After these talks, Dean Francis Keppel of the School of Education will present the annual Ames Awards to Tatsuo Arima, of Adams House and Tokyo, and Peter K. Gunness, of Winthrop House and Fargo, N. Dak.
The seniors will be welcomed to the ranks of Alumni by George Whitney, president of the Harvard Alumni Association, and James A. Singer, president of the Associated Harvard Clubs.
William S. Gray will offer the Class Ode, which will be sung under the direction of Class Chorister Joel M. Bernstein.
