Dual Meets Open Track Schedule; Emmet Reaches Squash Semifinals

One of the most pleasant spring track schedules to come out of the H.A.A. in several years was released by Athletic Director Thomas D. Bolles last week.

Dual meets with both Dartmouth and Princeton will be held in the Stadium, and for those still in Cambridge after exam period, Harvard will combine with Yale to face the aggregrate strength of Oxford and Cambridge Universities, over for the 22nd of June.

The Crimson will defend its Heptagonal championship in New Haven the week after the Yale meet, also in that city.

Schedule: April 20, Dartmouth; 27, Princeton; May 4, Cornell, Penn at Philadelphia; 11, at Yale; 18, Heptagonal Championships at New Haven; 31, IC4A Championships at New York; June 22, Harvard-Yale vs. Oxford-Cambridge at the Stadium.

Gerry Emmet, captain of the freshman squash team, was eliminated in the semifinal round of the National Junior Squash Racqets Tournament in Pittsburg last week.

Emmet, who was seeded second in the tournament, was upset by unseeded Dave Mason of Pittsburg in a close five-game match. Stephen Vehslage of Haverford (Pa.) School defeated Dan Morgan, Jr. of Yale in the other semi-final contest of the tourney. Eliminated in the quarter-finals were Ralph Mason Jr. of Pittsburg; H. Von L. Meyer Jr., Middlesex School, Concord, Mass.; John Ireton, Toronto University; and Romer Holloran, Exeter Academy.

A former Harvard track captain, Art Siler '56 made a heavy contribution to the victory of the Oxford University track team over Cambridge last Saturday at White City Stadium, London.

Siler won the shot put with a 47 foot 5.5 inch heave and placed second in the discus with a throw of 150 feet 5 inches, as Oxford took nine of the 13 events for a 73-53 point victory.
