French A Revisions In Section Structure Announced by Geary

Elementary French classes will be divided between lectures and small sections next term to provide closer student-in-structor relationships, Edward J. Geary, assistant professor of Romance Languages, announced yesterday.

Sections in French A will be limited to ten students for active participation, drilling, and testing. Geary will lecture to groups of 60 or 70 students, analyzing and describing language structure, and presenting the cultural aspects of the language with slides and films.

In both French A and German B, four hours of class will be held each week instead of three, although outside assignments will ont be increased. The German course will retain its present format.

Another innovation in the Department next year will be the installation of soundproof booths in one room of the Modern Language Center. This will enable students in French Ra to record individual recitation for self-criticism.
