Dereck Winans '69, coordinator of the Harvard Freedom Council's drive to raise money for a Hungarian student, announced last night that the $800 goal had nearly been achieved with barely half the Freshman class solicited.

He said that so far 408 persons had given a total of $792 making the average gift $1.94. Winans added that the club now hopes to collect $1,500 which would allow it to pay the room and board of two Hungarian students.
