A Newsweek survey of religion on the campus, appearing on the news stands yesterday, finds that at Harvard "Something of a religious renascence has taken place under the leadership of Dr. Nathan M. Pusey."
This revival was seen as part of a nationwide trend. At Yale a religion major will be instituted next year.
In a special report in the April 22nd issue, Newsweek focuses on Harvard because it has been "referred to as a modern exponent of secularism and religious cynicism."
The article quotes Harvard students and professors to show a departure from this attitude. One student said that the revival "happened between my freshman and senior year. Suddenly people weren't ashamed to go to church or say they believed in God."
