A conference "to measure and evaluate the role of political geography" will be held at the Harvard Summer School, William Y. Elliott, Leroy B. Williams Professor of History and Political Geography and director of the school, has announced.
"The position of geography is one of the foremost issues in the public policy of our times," Elliott said. The conference will analyze the relation of the field to education, to international and strategic studies, and to specialized areas, such as the utilization of basic natural resources.
Elliott also announced a special series of lectures on the dramatic arts by play-wrights, directors, and composers. He expressed hope that the Cambridge Drama Festival might continued and that Festival visitors might be among the Summer School lecturers.
President emeritus James B. Conant '14 and Dean Francis Keppel '38 of the School of Education will participate in a perviously announced conference on the nature of communism.
