The Harvard Freedom Council, the newly formed Freshman organization to study American relations with Western Europe, will show a film of the Hungarian Revolt at 7:30 tonight in the Geographical Institute.
The film, called "The Great Betrayal," compares the Hungarian revolt with the 1944 Polish rebellion against the Nazis. The second half of the 70 minute film, taken mostly by Hungarian Freedom Fighters, was smuggled to the West.
Derek Wiman '60, who procured the film from the Hungarian Student Service. called it "vivid" and "realistic." He said that it included closeups of street fighting and pictures of Hungarians burning the Russian flag and cutting the red star out of their own flag.
The showing of the film will initiate the Freedom Council's drive for $800 to pay the room and board of one or more Hungarians in next year's Freshman class. The 50 cents admission price of the movie will go to this purpose after expenses have been met.
Later, the Freshman class will be canvassed by members of the Freedom Council in an attempt to get as much money as possible.
