Pusey Announces Fund Drive Gifts Reach $8 Million

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Program for Harvard College announced yesterday that it has already collected $8,845,000 from a select group of alumni.

In his February press conference, President Pusey had indicated that the Drive had donations or pledges for ten percent of the $82.5 million goal, but yesterday's announcement was the first formal statement of the Program's finances.

The donations to date have come almost entirely from the "Harvard Family," a term which includes Overseers, ex-Overseers, Corporation members, and others closely connected with the University. The group contains approximately 150 persons.

Laurence O. Pratt '26, Public Relations Officer for the Program, said yesterday that the drive now will concentrate on so-called "advanced gifts," or those from individuals able to contribute extraordinary amounts.

By next fall, the Program will begin its personal solicitation of all Harvard alumni.

The fund drive is scheduled to reach its goal in three years.
