NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A last-quarter drive brought Straus South a victory over Grays, 39 to 28, and the championship of the strong American League in freshman intramural basketball competition last night.

Thayer Middle beat Dudley, 24 to 19, to win the National League title. The league champions will meet in the I.A.B. Wednesday evening, and the winner will play Grays, the champions of first semester competition.

At the beginning of this semester, the top ten teams formed the American League, and the remaining teams were placed in the National League.

Bradshaw Paces Winners

In the American League play-offs, Bill Bradshaw led Straus South scorers with thirteen points, followed by Will Julian with nine, and Gus Alexander with eight. Charles Steele scored eight points for Grays, and Renner Johnson scored seven.

Gordon Wade netted ten points for Thayer Middle, and Francis Culhane scored nine for Dudley.

Straus South defeated Matthews South and Thayer Middle defeated Thayer North in contests last week which broke three-way ties in both leagues.

In final American League standings, the champions from Straus South held an 8-2 record, followed by Grays (6-3), Matthews South (6-3), Holworthy (4-4), Matthews North (4-4), Mower (4-4), Straus North (3-5), Stoughton (2-6), and Thayer (1-7).
