Gary Pildner broke his own Harvard freshman record in the 200-yard back-stroke against Yale last Saturday. His time of 2:21.4 was 1.6 seconds faster than his best previous effort. The Yale record is 2:14.8.

Yale's David Shore was disqualified in the 200-yard breaststroke because of an illegal kick. Douglas McCartney of Harvard was then declared winner in 2:35.9, another record for the freshmen. McCartney, like Pildner, bettered his own mark. Thomas Burke of Yale was second, and Harvard's James Perilman, third.

The team of John LeBourgeois, Stewart Gilman, Foster deJesus, and Peter Lusk won the 400-yard freestyle relay for Yale in 3:34.6.

Summary:

200-YARD BACKSTROKE: 1. Pildner (H), 2. Maw (H), 3. Atkins (Y). (2:21.4--Harvard Freshman Record). 440-YARD FREESTYLE: 1. Alexander (Y), 2. Nager (Y), 3. Ulbrich (H). (5:00.4). 200-YARD BREASTSTROKE: 1. McCartney (H), 2. Burke (Y), 3. Perilman (H). (2:35.9--Harvard Freshman Record).

The rest of the summary appeared in yesterday's CRIMSON.
