Yardling Teams Win In Hockey, Basketball

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Four freshman teams have won two contests in hockey and basketball in the past few days, and have lost three in skiing and B-League squash.

The hockey sextet won a close match against St. Pauls School, 1 to 0, last night in the rink. St. Pauls dominated the play until the second period, when the Yardlings took the lead. Bruce Gillie of the Crimson finally scored in the middle of the third period on a pass from Mike Graney and George Herrick.

The basketball squad defeated Tabor Academy, 51 to 44. The team was led by Mike Donahue, who scored 12 points, and the Yardlings kept a six to ten point lead throughout the game.

The ski team has not fared so well, having lost two meets, a slalom match with Andover and a quadrangular contest with Andover, Dublin, and Exeter. The Massachusetts Squash Racquet B League team was also defeated, 4 to 1, with Jerry Emmet the only Yardling winner.
