The consolation round of the Beanpot Tourney, which starts at 7 p.m. in the Garden, should be a very easy victory for the varsity hockey team. Yet the game will also be worth watching if the sextet decides to display the offensive power it discovered last weekend against Brown.
Northeastern, the Crimson's opponent tonight, has been losing regularly. It dropped the opening Beanpot game, 6-0, to B.C. and lost another to Middlebury Saturday for four straight losses. Its overall record, including an earlier 7-0 defeat by the Crimson, is 6-10.
Despite their poor records, however, the Huskies are reported to have enough manpower to create an upset, especially if the varsity gets winded after a period or two. Standouts on the team are Ed Kerr in the goal and Dick Cavanaugh at center.
After the consolation match, B.U. faces the Eagles, who must be defeated if the Terriers (12-4) are going to remain a strong contender for the N.C.A.A. Eastern selection. Should B.C. win, the race for the New England choice will be wide open between B.U., B.C., or the Crimson.
