Suit for $3 Million Dismissed by Court

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A $3 million suit brought against the University and Dean Erwin N. Griswold of the Law School by J. Irizarry y Puente, a Latin-American tax consultant and editor, has been dismissed in U.S. District Court by Judge C. Sweeney.

The suit charged that the University and Dean Griswold "misappropriated and converted to their own use" Puente's idea for a series of loose-leaf reports and services covering Latin-American tax law and procedures.

Puente asserted that his idea for such a publication was "confidentially disclosed" to Dean Griswold in 1950 and subsequently was taken over by the University. Judge Sweeney ruled that there was nothing "novel or original" in the idea, and that Puente had no "proprietary rights" to the plan.
