The Massachusetts Federation of Labor struck a new blow in its fight against the state 3% sales tax on Monday, when it announced the distribution of a 12-page pamphlet assailing Governor Furcolo's proposed tax plan. It called instead for revision of the existing state income tax.
The pamphlet credited Arnold H. Soloway, assistant professor of Economics, for his assistance in preparing the document. Soloway's tax program, formulated and published for the Massachusetts Americans for Democratic Action last fall, is simular to the one proposed by the Federation.
The Federation's proposals called for the elimination of federal income tax deductions for state tax purposes, and the imposition of state taxes on income from rentals.
