HDC Plans Contest For Original Plays

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The HDC has announced sponsorship of a competition for original plays, open to all undergraduates but not limited to the College. The group is also considering another competition later in the year which will be open to undergraduates only.

Robert H. Chapman, associate professor of English, will judge the present competition, with the possible assistance of another professor, as yet unnamed. It is expected that most of the plays submitted will have been written originally for Chapman's English Ya course, the only undergraduate course in dramatic writing.

William S. Talbot '59, vice-president of the HDC, said that while no definite deadline has been set, it is hoped that all scripts will be in by mid-March. The judging will take only a few days, and casting will begin immediately. The play will be given in Agassiz Theater.
