The freshman cross country squad began its season with a near-perfect performance yesterday afternoon as it defeated Andover, 15-48, at Andover. A score of 15-50 constitutes a "shutout" in cross country.

The first five, and eight of the first nine finishers were Yardlings. The group was led home by Brandy Harrison and Jared Fitzgerald, both of whom were timed in 14:37 for the 2.5 mile course. Harrison was declared the winner in a very close finish.

There was a considerable distance between these two leaders and the third finisher, Jacques LaFrance, who was caught in 15:11. LaFrance, however, was only slightly ahead of Yardlings John Evans and Edwin Harrington.
