NEW YORK, Sept 24--A Sugar Ray Robinson-Carmen Basilio rematch in June probably will emerge from the smoke screen of conflicting reports following last night's bitter 15-round brawl at Yankee Stadium.
Basilio, the battle-scarred new middle-weight champ, said he was undecided to continue fighting as middleweight or welterweight and wouldn't decide for about 10 days.
In the bitter disappointment of defeat, the 37-year-old Robinson said last night, "I don't know whether I'll ever fight again." He was incommunicado today.
Baseball Scores
Ted Williams smashed his 38th home run tonight as Boston defeated Washington, 2-1, behind the five-hit pitching of Frank Sullivan, who won his 14th decision.
Milwaukee beat St. Louis 6-1, while the Giants bowed to the Phillies 5-0. Brooklyn played what in all probability was their final game in Ebbets Field, defeating the Pirates 2-0.
These games were simply anti-climaxes to the season for in both Leagues the pennants have already been clinched.
