Varsity Relay Teams to Get Look At League Competition in KC Meet

A forecast of things to come may prove the center of interest tomorrow night in the annual Knight of Columbus Meet at the Boston Garden, when both the varsty mile and two-mile relay teams will meet their Yale counterparts. Trial heats will begin at 7 p.m.

Running for the varsity in the mile relay will probably be an all-senior quartet of Mike Robertson, Jim Cairns, Bill Morris, and Dick Wharton. They will face Yale and Columbia. Yale will probably run its ace quartet of Bob Skerritt, Ed Slowik, Earl Van Horn, an John Erickson.

In the two-mile, the varsity will face Yale, Fordham, B.U., and Connecticut with Morris, Cairns, Dick Norris, and either Dave Spinney, Dave McLean, A1 Gordon or Phil Williams.

Captain Wharton will seek the first Crimson victory in history in the Eddie Farrell 500, an annual event in the meet, named in honor of the former Harvard track coach. Farrell was the brother of Jim Farrell, who presently in charge of the equipment room at Dillon Field House. Last year, Skerritt nipped Cairns to win the last few steps.

Art Martin and Joel Cohen will enter the hurdles, while sophomores Joel Landau and Sandy Dodge will enter the dash and Dick Williams the pole vault. Bill deKiewiet will high jump.

A freshman mile relay team of Ed Martin, Art Hoyt, Art Cahn, and Pat Liles will compete in the freshman contest.

In the afternoon at 1 p.m. in the Tufts Cage, the weight and broad jump events will be run off. Entered in the 35-pound weight for the varsity are Jim Doty, John DuMoulin and freshman Dunc Johnson. In the shotput, Doty, Carl Pescosolido, and Jeff Paley, a freshman, will represent the Crimson. Dave Gately will be the lone entrant in the broad jump.
