To the Editors:

The University is failing to make even a good pretense of being an institution of learning. By closing its libraries on Saturday afternoon and Sunday it is forcing on the student the attitude that learning is a job separate from the student's life, a five days a week and half-day Saturday job. The University's libraries should be open all weekend for the many who do not believe that education stops from 1:00 p.m. Saturday to 8:45 a.m. Monday. Margaret Sue Diehl
