Only Perry Driggs was able to win his match as Cornell handed the varsity golf team its fifth set-back of the season Saturday, 6 to 1.
Driggs, at four, played steady and consistent rather than spectacular golf to gain his win.
The varsity's top three, Bill McAllister, Captain Bob Ornsteen, and Brock Stokes, all played more erratically than usual. Alan Steinert, at five, held out until the 19th hole when he finally succumbed to basketball star Chuck Rolles.
At six, Cornell's Steve Klein shot a par 36 on the first nine and went on to defeat the Crimson's Lou Kline 3 and 2, while Jim Bailey lost the final match.
Team members, including Roger Fleischman, Dave Beadie, and George Leness in addition to the above, will play a qualifying round today for the Williams match tomorrow.
