The hot and cold varsity light crew puts its pre-Yale record on the line at 5:30 tomorrow Cornell over the Charles River Henley distance.
Stroked by sophomore Bob Foley, the 150 shell will be seeking its third victory against two close losses. Last week in the E.A.R.C. Sprints on Lake Carnegie, Cornell edged out the Crimson by less than three feet, with record-breaking Princeton in the van and Yale trailing.
At the E.A.R.C. regatta, Cornell turned in a faster qualifying time than the eventual victor, but the Tigers turned on the charm in the finals to win, chopping two and eight-tenths seconds off their week-old Goldthwait Cup mark.
Scheduled for 5 p.m., the j.v. race should be equally close, following Cornell's one foot victory over the Crimson last week in a contest that see-sawed over the last quarter mile.
Less close should be the freshman race at 4:30, putting the favored Yardlings against a Cornell shell which failed to qualify for the Sprints. The freshmen, stroked by Mario Bryan, finished third in the E.A.R.C. meet, behind Princeton and M.I.T.
